Hockey Helps the Homeless Returns to Kelowna in 2026

Hockey Helps the Homeless Kelowna is returning on Thursday, May 28, 2026. The one-day, pro-am tournament helps support BGC Okanagan programs that help prevent youth homelessness. They do this by bringing community members, local businesses and hockey fans together.
Now in its third year in the Okanagan, the event gives participants the opportunity to play alongside former professional hockey players. Critical funds are raised for local youth facing housing insecurity. Proceeds from the Kelowna tournament will support BGC Okanagan’s Youth Shelter, Shelter Diversion and Upstream Kelowna programs. These programs connect young people with support before they reach a point of crisis.
Presented by Peacock Sheridan Group in association with Newport Wealth Management, the tournament will take place at MNP Place. Players will hit the ice with Stanley Cup champion Brad May, along with NHL alumni and celebrity players including Cory Cross and Chad Brownlee.
“We are incredibly proud to continue our support of BGC Okanagan through our partnership with Hockey Helps the Homeless,” said Brent Peacock, partner at Peacock Sheridan Group. “BGC Okanagan’s Upstream program especially resonated with us as homelessness continues to rise in Kelowna. It showed us how easily youth can slip through the cracks and how vital BGC Okanagan’s work truly is. Without a safe place to go, support and mentorship, many at-risk youth would end up on the streets.”
Supporting Youth Before Crisis Happens
At BGC Okanagan, we know that early intervention can change the course of a young person’s life. The Youth Shelter, along with programs like Shelter Diversion and Upstream Kelowna, are designed to provide stability, connection and practical support for youth who may be at risk of homelessness.
Proceeds raised through Hockey Helps the Homeless help strengthen these essential services and ensure young people have access to safe spaces, trusted adults and the resources they need to move forward.
“This event is about more than hockey. It is about showing young people in our community that they matter and that support is available before they reach a point of crisis,” said Jeremy Welder, President and CEO of BGC Okanagan. “The funds raised through Hockey Helps the Homeless help us strengthen programs that provide stability, connection and hope for youth who are navigating some of life’s hardest circumstances.”
