2025 Staff Awards and Long Service Honours at BGC Okanagan
At BGC Okanagan, we believe our people are our greatest strength. Each year, we come together for our annual Staff Recognition Awards to celebrate the incredible work, dedication, and passion of our team. This year’s celebration was no exception — an evening filled with inspiration, connection, and a deep appreciation for the positive impact our staff have on the lives of children, youth, and families across the Okanagan.
Our Staff Recognition Awards are more than just an evening of celebration — they’re a reminder of what’s possible when people come together with a shared purpose. At BGC Okanagan, we’re not just colleagues — we’re a team, a community, and a family dedicated to empowering young people and creating opportunities for all.
Congratulations again to all our award winners and anniversary honourees. We’re so proud to have you on the team.
Honouring Our Award Recipients
Our awards recognize those who go above and beyond in their roles, demonstrating leadership, innovation, compassion, and a tireless commitment to our mission. This year, we are proud to spotlight four remarkable individuals:
🌟 Lea Ward – Volunteer Award
Lea’s journey with BGC Okanagan began in 2016, and after a brief hiatus, she returned in 2023 as a volunteer at the Downtown Youth Centre. Volunteering three times a week, Lea leads cooking workshops and guitar lessons that not only teach valuable life skills but also foster confidence and creativity in the youth she mentors.
Her dedication, warmth, and ability to build strong relationships have left a lasting impact on both youth and staff. Whether she’s facilitating a cooking session, jamming on guitar, or simply lending a listening ear, Lea shows up with enthusiasm and heart every single time. The programs she runs are always well-attended, a testament to the trust and connection she builds.
🌟 Aradhita Arora – Rising Star Award
Joining BGC Okanagan in October 2024, Aradhita took on the role of Program Coordinator for the Learn On program, an initiative focused on academic support and social-emotional well-being for youth. Despite being new to the organization, Aradhita immediately demonstrated exceptional leadership and adaptability. She led a diverse team with empathy and skill, going above and beyond to remove barriers for youth participants and her fellow staff.
Her leadership was instrumental in exceeding the goals of the Learn On program, and her willingness to step up during challenges has made her a valued member of the BGC family. Aradhita recently transitioned into a new role as Program Coordinator at the Downtown Youth Centre Drop In, where she continues to grow, inspire, and lead with integrity and passion.
🌟 Becky Kirkham – Leadership Excellence Award
As Director of Child Care, Becky’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment have made a profound impact on our organization. From launching programs like esiKidz to fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusion, Becky leads by example and inspires those around her.
Her integrity, patience, and genuine care have united teams, empowered staff, and improved outcomes for the children and families we serve. Becky’s ability to balance operational excellence with heartfelt leadership has helped shape the future of BGC Okanagan.
🌟 Ashleigh Carter – Above and Beyond Award
Ashleigh, who joined our billing team in early 2024, quickly made her mark with her can-do attitude and sharp organizational skills. With a background in forensic science and experience supporting law enforcement in complex scenarios, Ash brings resilience, focus, and compassion to everything she does.
Originally from Australia, Ash has brought a fresh perspective and vibrant energy to our team. Her international background and commitment to excellence have enriched our internal operations and made her an indispensable part of our organization’s future.
Celebrating Work Anniversaries
We also proudly celebrated the work anniversaries of our incredible staff, whose years of service speak volumes about their commitment to the BGC mission. These dedicated individuals help us build safe, inclusive spaces where children and youth can thrive.
We thank every staff member, whether they’re marking one year or a decade-plus of service, for their continued passion, heart, and excellence. Your contributions make a difference every single day.
