Due to the wildfire situation impacting many of our BGC Okanagan Club members, families, and staff – we will be providing the most up-to-date information on Club programming and closures on this webpage.

Our hearts are with everyone affected by the wildfires and evacuations across Summerland, Peachland and the surrounding area. We know that families, staff members, friends, and neighbours have been displaced from their homes, and we recognize how frightening and uncertain this time is for our community. We understand that the Club is an important source of consistency, care, and connection for many families. We are deeply sorry for the added disruption closures may cause while you are navigating evacuation alerts, orders and displacement. Please know that we are thinking of you and doing everything we can to make careful, safety-focused decisions.

Summerland Club

Due to the evacuation of Summerland, and uncertainty of what the coming week will present, the Summerland Club will be closed the week of Aug. 10-14.

All programming, services, and activities delivered at this location are cancelled for the week. Please do not bring your child to the Summerland Club this week, even if the evacuation order is lifted.

We recognize that some families may have an essential need for child care and may not have another option available. Our team will be reaching out directly to families who are registered for child care at the Summerland Club this week to better understand their circumstances and needs. If you have an essential need for child care, please let us know, when we call. We will do our best to identify space at another BGC Okanagan location and arrange care where it is safe and possible to do so. We cannot guarantee alternate care in every circumstance, but we are committed to supporting our families and will do everything we reasonably can to help meet essential childcare needs during this difficult time.

Peachland Club

To protect the safety and well-being of our Club members and employees, the Peachland Club will be closed the week of Aug. 10-14. All programming, services, and activities delivered at this location are cancelled for the week, with the exception of Recreation (see below). Please do not bring your child to the Peachland Club.

We recognize that some families may have an essential need for child care and may not have another option available. Our team will be reaching out directly to families who are registered for child care at the Peachland Club this week to better understand their circumstances and needs. If you have an essential need for child care, please let us know, when we call. We will do our best to identify space at another BGC Okanagan location and arrange care where it is safe and possible to do so. We cannot guarantee alternate care in every circumstance, but we are committed to supporting our families and will do everything we reasonably can to help meet essential childcare needs during this difficult time.

Recreation programming will continue, however, drop-off will be at our Hudson Road Club parking lot in West Kelowna (2633 Alhambra Drive). Scheduled activities planned for the upcoming week will be adjusted due to the poor air quality and the highway being closed.
