Grade 8 Screening in school
Upstream Kelowna is a youth-focused prevention and early intervention program that aims to prevent youth homelessness, reduce school disengagement, strengthen connections to family, school, and community, and improve overall mental well-being.
The program uses a simple screening tool to identify Grade 8 students who may be at risk, including those with less visible challenges. Students identified are then connected to wraparound supports through dedicated case managers and partner organizations, who work collaboratively with the youth and their families to address need, and build a foundation for long-term stability and well-being.
